I am currently running the Open Lab: Athens initiative.

My work centres on designing, developing and evaluating novel, digitally-enabled models of citizen participation that engage communities in developing the future of local service provision, decision-making and democracy.

My PhD and research projects so far have involved a set of experiments into participatory methods in voting systems. This included a deep examination of democratic models and the different ways participatory methods can be manifested on a local and national scale. I have also looked at the distinctive participatory types that these democratic practices entail. These participatory types range from the mere act of casting a ballot to more profuse citizen involvement such as contestation, and this range requires us to reconsider how technology can support democracy through the careful configuration and design of e-voting systems.

More generally, my research interests involve e-voting, e-participation (e-deliberation, e-contestation), e-democracy and human computer interaction (HCI).
