Reem Talhouk

I have a bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition & dietetics and a master’s in public health. My master’s concentrated on health management and policy and I have worked on projects related to social innovation, disaster planning and health regulations.

More recently, my research has gravitated towards working with refugees and marginalised communities. My work has encompassed working with community kitchens in Palestinian refugee camps and in exploring the intersection of technology and reproductive health for Syrian refugees. I spent the last year visiting Syrian refugee camps in rural Lebanon to discuss with them their reproductive health problems and how they use technology.

I am excited to build on my previous research in Open Lab and develop digital technologies to improve the health of refugee communities and create a space for them advocate for their health. Additionally, I am investigating ways technologies can contribute to building refugee community resilience and how they fit in to the current community resilience models.
