My background is in Arts and Design. I am interested in the role of creativity in democracy and how HCI technology and design can support forms of social activism and innovation in the everyday politics of place-making through action-based activities. As part of my post-doc research I am currently exploring the role of technologies and design in supporting participation in the re-imagination of local parks’ services delivery and practices.

Past of my research and interests include the role of social technologies in social movements’ formations and practices; the role of socio-technical systems to support civic action in the context of urban regeneration and city planning, and the role of design processes to open spaces of dialogue across different social, institutional and cultural practices through collaborative making.

I am fond of dogs, drums, walking, performance, film-making, space missions and, more recently, mountaineering expeditions.

How do groups form in digital economies?

Data Publics is a three-day conference Open Lab is organising in collaboration with Lancaster University.

The conference explores the diverse ways in which “publics” are, and can be, constituted, provoked, threatened, understood, and represented.
