My primary role within the group is producing embedded electronic devices that are used by other researchers.

I am an experienced electronic designer who specialises in making low power sensors that gather or transmit a variety of measurements such as movement, position, environmental conditions and device interactions. The devices are often wearable, which makes the gathered data a useful measure of the subject’s personal behaviour and interactions.

I am involved with a variety of projects and often contribute to the design of new devices from inception right through to manufacture. My knowledge of newly available technologies and electronic design and my broad background in science have helped many of the projects I have worked on to become very successful.

One such project is the ongoing open-source Open Movement platform, which is an integral part of the globally recognised wearable accelerometer sensors. These sensors have been incorporated into several projects worldwide, as well as being used for Open Lab research.
