Broadly speaking, my research interests are in human-computer interaction, social computing, and health informatics.

My main research focus is in the area of mobile health and social care technologies, and I work in collaboration with NHS Hospitals and the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University. My work focuses on video coaching technologies to support mothers of children with special needs, and foster communication and collaboration with their health professionals and wider social network through non-traditional means and platforms. This also includes investigating strategies to promote the adoption of digital technologies to augment the current healthcare system and enhance the social support received by the mothers.

Prior to joining Open Lab, I earned a BSc and MSc in Computer and Information Sciences from King Saud University in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – my home country. I am also affiliated with the Software and Knowledge Engineering Research Group (SKERG) and remained to continue a career in academia as a lecturer in the Information Technology Department at King Saud University.
